about

“Fake to say” encloses the ‘emotional rollercoaster’ I have been through this year. The song starts with a slow and melancholic tune that recalls what I look back at being the beginning of 2020 and the realisation that I would have been blocked at home. It follows with the pounding chorus, then a speed change which can be seen as an allegory of the beginning of summer with a rhythmic, overturned and techno-friendly central section and then returning, as an infinite loop, to the main chorus. The recurrent phrase “fake to say” expresses how social media platforms have become a mass production of fake/altered versions of reality/subjective realities. Stories, news, photos and videos are no longer a true testimony of what is really happening. From the beginning I was attracted to this sense of loss dictated by feeling immersed in an indefinite social digital world. Therefore, with this track, I wanted to express both the distress and the frenzy of events riding this mood without asking too many questions.
What I appreciate the most about producing “Fake to say” was the creation of the rithmic session, the introduction of the magic Roland Tr8s in combination with the Erebus Dreadbox created the perfect support for the chorus. Also the song tempo variation gave more intensity to different sections operating at different speeds. For instance/for example, starting from 119 Bpm, I’ve raised to 123Bpm and then redeemed at 119 in the outro. With time/as time passes, the more I come across artists such as Weval, Bicep, Floating Points, Four Tet and many more, the more I hope to develop the mix between the rhythmic and melodic parts.
